Shooting has been recognized as the fastest growing equestrian sport in
America today. Each year mounted shooters from across the nation gather
to demonstrate their skills and a competitive spirit that gives them
that winning edge. This competitiveness combined with the anticipation
of renewing old acquaintances and making new friends creates an aura of
excitement that is all part of competing in a world-class event and a
remarkable western experience such as Festival of the West. 
Audiences enjoy the authentic pre-turn of the century clothing and tack as well as the gun skills and horsemanship this fast paced action sport demonstrates. Every minute another rider enters the arena to show what he or she is made of and rides hard and shoots straight to the roar of the crowd's cheers! Riders enjoy mingling with the crowd and telling them about their horse, equipment and the sport.
