                                   Guidelines and Rules


    1. Categories for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention are:
            a. Most Unique Poem with a view of western life
            b. Most Amusing Poem: Fun with a western topic
            c. Best Illustrated Poem: Use an original, student-created illustration
    Students must indicate the category to which they would like to submit their
    poems, although we reserve the right to re-categorize if necessary.

    2. All grade 4 students are invited to participate.
    3. Entries must be original poems about the western era, ideas or activities. No
        copied poems.
    4. Entries must be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper.
    5. Entries may be illustrated. Illustrations may be done in any medium, and
        should enhance the idea of the poem, not be merely decorative.
    6. Entrants must fill out an entry form and attach a signed Parental Release
        Form. No poem will be judged without a signed parental release form.
    7. DEADLINE: All poems must be received no later than February 14, 2008.
    8. Poems will NOT be returned.
    9. Make sure students and parents have a copy before you send poems to us.

~A signed parent release form is attached to the poem.


~You or your teacher have made at least one copy of the
